1. No Mascara on False Lashes – Here's Why

False eyelash cleaning tips, no mascara

Avoid applying mascara directly to your false lashes—especially magnetic or reusable styles—as it can affect their lifespan, gunking up the fibres and making them more difficult to clean. Instead, apply mascara to your natural lashes before applying falsies to help them blend seamlessly.

2. Lash Tweezers: Proper Lash Handling

Magnetic Strip Eyelash Care Tips using false Lash Tweezers

Always use lash tweezers to handle your lashes. Since our fingers carry oils, dirt and bacteria, using lash-specific tweezers minimizes contact with your digits, helping to preserve the lash and avoid oil or dirt transfer which can flatten the curl and prematurely break down the false lashes. If you must use your fingers, make sure you clean them well prior to handling.

3. The Right Way to Remove Your Lashes

Proper Lash Removal

When removing your false lashes, gently lift at the base of the band—starting from the outer corners. Never pull on the lash fibers themselves as this can cause shedding, shape loss, and damage.

4. Clean Bands = Longer Lash Life

How to Clean Your Lash Bands

After removing your lashes, immediately (and gently!) remove any residual eyeliner or glue from the bands.

Don't Skip This Step: We’ve all been there, but eyeliner turns to lash cement overnight. Crusty buildup = shorter lash life.

Once the band is clean, use a clean mascara spoolie to gently comb through your lashes. This removes lingering debris and helps separate fibres to keep them fluffy and fabulous.

5. Store Your Lashes Properly to Keep Their Shape

Store False Eyelashes in Tray to extend life

After every use, be sure to place your lashes back in their original tray. This helps them retain their natural curve and keeps them clean, protected, and ready for your next glam session.

6. Time For a Deep Clean? Here's How to Do It Right

Deep Cleaning False Eyelashes

After 3–4 wears, it's probably time to give your lashes a deeper clean. While this will depend a lot based on your lifestyle, how much makeup you use with them, how long you wear them, etc., a good rule of thumb is every 3-4 wears. You'll know it's time for a deep clean when the band looks dull or your lash fibres start to look clumpy, oily or stick together (full instructions below).

DEEP CLEANING BEGINS HERE

Time for a deep clean! When regular lash TLC just won’t cut it, follow this ultimate refresh routine to bring your lashes back to life.

How to Properly Deep Clean Your False Lashes

We know deep cleaning your false lashes can sound intimidating, but it's 100% worth it. Here's what you'll need and the exact steps to follow to deep clean your strip or magnetic lashes the right way:

False Lash Cleaning Supplies

How often should you deep clean your lashes? As a rule of thumb, give them a good wash every 3–4 wears—or sooner if they look oily, clumped, or less defined.

Step One

Wash your hands thoroughly to remove dirt and oils. Using either your lash tweezers or clean fingers, remove your lashes from their tray and gently rinse with warm water to loosen up debris, eyeliner or makeup.

Pro Tip: If you failed to follow the 6 commandments above (specifically #4) or if you have excessive buildup, soak your lashes in warm water with gentle cleanser for a few minutes first.

Step Two

Lay your lashes flat onto a lint-free surface. Our recommendation is to use a reusable cotton round as they're lint-free, triple layered and super soft (subtle plug). They work like a charm to clean your lashes. And your face. And the planet.  Whatever you do, don't use a disposable cotton round. They'll leave fibres in your lash band, fibres and magnets that are really hard to remove. Also they're bad for the planet.🌍save the planet

Step Three

Pump a small amount of cleanser onto your lash bands and gently massage into the band. Using your LashLux Scrubbie brush, gently clean the lash band, magnets (if working with magnetic lashes) and lash fibres. The help clean stubborn makeup or eyeliner residue from the band and/or magnets, use a lint-free flock tip applicator to remove. Do not use cotton swabs for the same reason as discussed above #saveyoursanity.

Flip and repeat on the other side.

Step Four

Rinse again in warm water and place them onto the dry side of your reusable cotton round. Pat dry to remove excess water.

Step Five

Place lashes back into their tray. Brush with a clean spoolie to re-fluff and separate fibres. Let dry fully before closing your box and storing your lashes away.

Step Six

Marvel at yourself for being such a lash maintenance queen 👑you are a queen

Step Seven

Rock them again knowing you're treating your lashes like the luxury accessories they are!

Final Thoughts

With a little bit of TLC and the right care routine, your lashes remain clean and beautiful, paying off in the long run as you wear them again and again.

False Lash Care FAQ's

Nope. Any gentle cleanser should work, you'll just want to make sure that it doesn't contain any oils or harsh ingredients as this will cause lash shedding and can break down the bond between the lash band and fibres.

One of our favorite recommendations, next to our cleanser (obviously), is to use baby shampoo, which is formulated to clean well and be gentle - a win-win for lashes!

But, if you're looking for a cleanser that doubles (triples?) as your face wash/makeup remover and lash cleanser - we've got you covered!

We tried a ton of lash washes and never found one that didn't break down the lash fibres without leaving them looking oily or clumpy, had 100% clean (or beneficial) ingredients, or didn't burn our eyes. So, with the help of a wonderful and talented domestic partner, we developed ours.

It's 100% Canadian-made and manufactured, clean, gentle and full of skin-loving ingredients for use on your face and to tackle makeup and oils, while being gentle enough to use on your false eyelashes without damaging the band or fibres.

You'll want to do a quick clean after each wear, removing any eyeliner or residue from the bands and brushing the fibres. Every 3-4 wears (or when they start to look oily, clumped or less defined), you'll want to give them a deep clean using the instructions above.

As long as you're gentle with your bands and don't pull on your lash fibres, your lashes will stay in tact! Our lashes are all hand made with attention to detail and durability to bring a resilient lash that can be reworn many times over.

Absolutely not! The fibres in all of our lashes are made of the highest quality synthetic PBT. PBT is a thermoplastic polymer knowin for its durability, shape retention and resistance to moisture, making it a fantastic choice for high-quality false lashes. Make sure to use lukewarm water on them and always handle them with clean fingers and/or lash tweezers, avoiding squishing the lash fibres so that they keep their curl.

Once you're done cleaning them and do a gentle pat, make sure to run through a clean mascara spoolie to fluff them back up and retain their shape.

The best way to safely remove any eyeliner from your bands is to (with clean hands) hold the lash fibres directly infront of the section of the band you're cleaning while using your other hand to gently pell away any makeup or eyeliner. Do this all the way along the band.

If you remove eyeliner/build up as soon as you remove your lashes, it will still be pliable from the warmth of your skin and can be removed easily.

If you remove them and wait to remove buildup or eyeliner, it's much harder to safely get it off. In that case, you'll want to soak them in warm water with our gentle cleanser to loosen it up first.
