First Things First
It is important to note that there are basic eye shapes and there are descriptions of eye shapes; you will likely have more than one, so don't worry about smooshing yourself inside a box.
For example: you have hooded eyes, but they may also be downturned and/or deep set. You may have upturned, almond eyes.
There are six basic eye shapes – round, monolid, hooded, downturned, upturned and almond. First, let's figure out your basic eye shape and then move to your descriptor.

Basic Eye Shapes
Find a mirror and let's get started...
Round Eyes: Looking into the mirror, you'll see the whites above and/or below your iris. If you can see white space either above and/or below (without opening your eyes wide), you have round eyes. These beautiful peepers are less than twice as long as they are wide.
Monolid: Anyone with a monolid will find they don’t have much of a crease due to the flat nature of the upper lid. The brow bone is less defined and will require a bit more dimension. You will know you have a monolid if your upper eyelid is smooth/creaseless.
Hooded: These eyes have an extra layer of skin on the upper lid which appears to droop over the crease and make it look smaller than it is. If you cannot see the crease in your eyelid when your eyes are open, you have hooded eyes.
Downturned: Downturned eyes droop slightly in the outer corners. Imagine you have a horizontal line from the outside of your pupil, if the outer corner of your eye is below the imaginary line, you have downturned eyes.
Upturned: If you have a natural lift in the outer corner of your eyes, you have upturned eyes. Imagine you have a horizontal line from the outside of your pupil, if the outer corner of your eye is above the imaginary line, you have upturned eyes. Often you find this style with almond shaped eyes.
Almond: Looking into the mirror to see the whites above and below your iris. If you can not see white space above and below the iris because they’re covered by the eyelids, you have almond eyes.

Eye Shape Descriptors
Wide-Set: These eyes are more than one eyeball width apart. Looking in the mirror, your gauging the space across the bridge of your nose, between the inside corners of each eye.
Close-Set: These eyes are less than one eyeball width apart from each other.
Deep-Set: These eyes appear larger and are set deeper into your skull. The brow bone will appear more prominent and often you will find your natural lashes graze the upper lid (but not always). If your brow bone protrudes past your eye, you have deep-set eyes.
Protruding: The eyelid on this particular eye will appear larger as the eyes project through them.

Feeling Good?
Ok. Now for Some Recommendations...

If you determined that you have...
Round Eyes
These eyes are already quite bright and open due to their natural shape so they’re a prime candidate for cat eye to elongate the eyes, creating an illusion of almond eyes or adding a bit of allure.
Trying a natural shape will highlight the natural beauty of these eyes as well without making you look surprised.
Using a doe eye on these eyes can unintentionally make you appear startled.

Looking for an everyday wear that packs a punch? Versatile and perfect for a day to day look and evening wear:
Defining the lash line is key as it will dictate what you're going to achieve with your eye shape. Whether you're trying to highlight the beautiful shape you have by following your natural line or create a more almond look using winged eyeliner, the possibilities are endless! Bright colors on the lid are a great way to show off those bright eyes!

IF YOU DETERMINED THAT YOU HAVE...
Monolid Eyes
Curl, curl, curl.
This is going to open up those eyes!
A doe eye shape creates an illusion of a brighter and more awake eye, combined with a good curl and you’re unstoppable.
Avoid a lash style that is too bold as it may cause your eyelid to look weighed down.
Lashes that crisscross will really open up the eyes.
Our full lashes come in either segments or full bands, if you get the full bands, don't be afraid to modify them by snipping the band to create a perfect, custom fit - alternatively, you could order the segments and build your dream fit by mixing and matching the segments, we encourage you to explore!
Monolid Eye Recommendations
Looking for an everyday wear that packs a punch? Versatile and perfect for a day to day look and evening wear:
As monolid typically lack a bit of definition, tightlining the eye with a dark gel liner can have a huge eye enhancing effect! Focusing on the lash line to define and lift them will instantly add depth and dimension. Did we mention how fierce a feline flick looks on this gorgeous eye?

IF YOU DETERMINED THAT YOU HAVE...
Hooded Eyes
Medium to long lashes over the iris will add texture and dimension and work to open your eyes up.
Try either a natural or doe eye to brighten and open up these eyes!
A fluttery mix with long lashes directly above the pupil will really open the center of the eyes.
Depending on the intensity of the hood, you might find that heavy hoods may press down on your lashes and encourage them to 'pop off' or flatten, so going for something with a deep curl will really help and if you have extremely hooded eyes, you might want to opt out of a thick lash line.
Hooded Eye Recommendations
Airy Amour - The length on these would be perfect for someone with hooded and deep set eyes or someone who wants some eye-catching drama.
High Voltage - Long, dark and dramatic, these will curl up and over your lids for a show-stopping eye!
Material Curl - This is our TOP recommendation for thick lashes on hooded eyes
The Cats Meow - These have a delicious curl and would be perfect for your hooded eyes!
Doe's Lashes - If you have a heavily hooded eye, these might be too thick
When applying FerroLiner (or any liquid eyeliner, for that matter), make sure to tilt your chin up while looking into the mirror as this will bring the lid back and away from the lash line and enable you to seamlessly apply the liner - hold this position for a little bit while it dries so that it doesn't transfer to your lid when you move your head down.
Applying shadow to an open eye will help you find your natural crease and assist with product placement, you want to add shadow just above your crease so that it doesn't get lost in the natural fold when you open your eyes.

IF YOU DETERMINED THAT YOU HAVE...
Downturned Eyes
Since these eyes tend to ‘droop’ in the outer corner, they’re the perfect candidate for a doe or natural eye which will concentrate the center of the eyes and help lift it.
A mild cat eye can draw the eyes out and appear to bring the ends upward and create symmetry.
Eyelashes which are dense or heavy on the outer corners tend to highlight the downturn, so lower volume and criss-cross stitch designs are a go to!
Downturned Eye Recommendations
Looking for an everyday wear that packs a punch? Versatile and perfect for a day to day look and evening wear:
The Cats Meow - If your eyes are heavily downturned, these may not be the best choice
To help lift and open up your eyes, add a bit of highlighter under the arch of your eyebrow and to the inner corner of your eye to draw attention away from the downward shape and help make the eyes appear larger!
Adding a bit of symmetry and reducing the slope, a white eyeliner pencil on the lower lid creates an eye opening effect.
Cat eyeliner can also do wonders to balance out the eyes and create a lift!

IF YOU DETERMINED THAT YOU HAVE...
Upturned Eyes
Often you find this style with almond shapes eyes.
If you have a natural lift in the outer corner of your eyes, chances are you have upturned eyes.
Since this shape is versatile, you can try anything to see what you like the most!
As a starter suggestion, thick lashes which gradually increase in length at the outer edges will accentuate and highlight your natural cat eye, see our recommendations below!
Upturned Eye Recommendations
Looking for an everyday wear that packs a punch? Versatile and perfect for a day to day look and evening wear:
Enhance those gorgeous eyes by placing emphasis on the upward slope.
Using a dome or angled brush, apply a bold shadow to create a sideways V shape on your outer corners and don't be afraid to go even further with a cat eyeliner!

IF YOU DETERMINED THAT YOU HAVE...
Almond Eyes
Adding length and curl on the outer edges will accentuate the shape without weighing down the eyes.

So, feel free to explore! Cat eye or doe eye shapes are a great choice here! Not sure what you're in the mood for?
Try some of these:
Almond Eye Recommendations
Adding eyeliner to the bottom half or 1/4 of the outside lash line will instantly emphasize your eye shape.
Create an illusion of upturned eyes with a slightly upward V shape on the outer corners using your eye shadow (don't forgot to blend blend blend), cat eye looks are beautiful on almond eyes!

Taking customization one step further...

Close-Set
Adding length and thickness to the outer edges of your eye will help even out the proportions and make the eyes appear more symmetrical. Using a cat eye will pull the focus outward.

Wide-Set
To make these eyes appear closer, using dramatic length over the iris which tapers in at the ends will unify the eyes as well as brighten and open them. Don't be afraid to try a dramatic or bold eye!

Deep-Set
Since the natural eyelashes tend to flirt with the upper lid for anyone with deep-set eyes, going for a longer lash will help pull the eyes out and avoid grazing your upper lid all day long. A doe eye which adds concentration and length to the center of the eyes can open them up beautifully!

Protruding
Due to the large surface area of the eyelid, you’re free to explore! Dark tones tend to reduce the appearance of space and size so going with a bold lash will do wonders!
If your preference is for something more mild, you're in luck! This eye suits virtually any style!
